GDC - Godot Dialogue Compositor

VSCode extension coming soon!

https://github.com/its99studios/gdc

GDC is a language and runtime made for handling dialogue in Godot. It has syntax similar to GDScript and integrates perfectly into Godot.

This is the first plugin I have ever made, and the main purpose is to provide dialogue management the way I want to.

Features

GDScript-like Syntax

The syntax is somewhat similar to GDScript; it is very human-friendly.

character ExampleGuy

# 1 GDC file can contain multiple conversations for a character!
dialogue introduction:
	say "Hello there! Do you-"
	autoadvance 0.5
	# Dialogue normally waits for user input, but you can autoadvance it

	# Other characters can talk
Player say "I'm here for a reason."

	say "Oh..."

say "Did HE bring you here?"

	# Choices!
	choice:
"YES. YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID.":
			# Call signals
			event start_fight

		"...No?":
			say "...Ok!"

	end

Automatic Compiling

No manmade resources are needed to get GDC working in Godot; the plugin automatically compiles your .gdc files into connected resouces.

In other words, no middleman is needed between Godot and your .gdc files.

Automatic Interpreting

On top of compiling, GDC can run your dialogue for you when called. It handles events as signals that can be easily integrated into your project.

Do you use it?

Yes. This plugin will be the backbone of my NPC system.

As my game evolves, the plugin will too, and you can track updates from the GitHub repository listed above.
