I have developed an ai plugin suite for the godot game engine(4.6.2), available resources was just huggingface and chatgpt but i think i can be moderately happy with the result. Hoping to find some testing and marketing collaborators here.
The plugin helps in:
Code Assistance
Image Generation/Editing
3D Model Generation
3D Model Rigging
Video to FBX Mocap
Image to Video
Extracting Frames from Videos
Narrative Design Assistant
TTS
Any tone or attitude aside this post was asking for people interested in being part of this project, so clarifying that this space is very largely not pro-AI is relevant, and I agree that the likelihood of finding people interested in this here is very low
Please note also that “AI” tools are a direct threat to the livelihoods of a lot of people on this forum, people replacing artists with AI because they think it’ll work and leaving people without a job is happening all over, programmers are also increasingly threatened, so there’s a lot of very reasonable frustration and anger over people promoting tools that are effectively designed to replace them, and also how a lot of AI things (don’t know about this one specifically) is inherently individualistic and anti-community, anti collaboration, and centered on allowing people (poorly) to make game projects all on their own, which I’d say is very much the opposite of the goal of a collaborative game dev forum
A lot of the responses to AI pushback is that it’s just irrational, or anti-progress, or similar, and people ignore these things
You should probably check with some of the other people on this forum who are trying to make such things. Search for LLM, MCP, and AI. You’ll find them.
Keep in mind that we get more advertisements on here for LLM integration plugins than anything else by a wide margin. It’s a saturated market with potentially a small customer base. At least, you won’t find those customers on here - as evidenced by the responses you’ve been getting. (I hear Reddit is even worse.)
On a lighter vein, it appears we can do with a bit of guerilla marketing here. Staying true to the highest standards of amiability- maybe a “AI-Tolerant” category?
You should probably start with market research. Who is your customer? Guerilla marketing may be surprising, but it is still engaging an audience that has potential interest. Younger generations are vocally opting out of LLMs in droves.
Making light of people’s responses and trying to change the conversation without acknowledging people’s feelings is not going to serve you well in this community.
You didn’t do any of those searches I recommended. So here’s some highlights:
The Godot Team does not allow LLM-generated code into the project.
People dropping their LLM-slop code here and asking for help are increasingly becoming a problem.
LLMs are REALLY bad at Godot. Like exponentially more so than other languages, and they “hallucinate” a lot when trying to deal with Godot/GDScript.
We outright flag and reject any answers copy/pasted from LLMs.
We have discussed ways to mitigate the incursion of LLMs into the forum.
We love AI - in games. But that’s AI created by us to control enemies, etc. A lot of us have mixed (as @BFranse said) or outright hostile (as @Frozen_Fried said) reactions to LLMs. We even have a thread discussing requiring a disclosure tag for LLM stuff.
Calling an LLM “AI” is a marketing term. So using it here means either you do not understand how they work, or you are trying to snow people with marketing speak. Neither is a good look.
