I created petition for support Lua in Godot https://chng.it/hWPWfWSFZd
Here you can talk about this petition and ask questions about it
Since that already exists, I see absolutely no point in having this petition.
Especially because godot is a community driven project. What will the petition do? If nobody wants to work on it, having a petition with even a million people won’t change anything.
And besides, having a 3rd “officially supported” language would be an absolute nightmare to maintain. C# is already a challenge.
Godot takes proposals from github, and here’s a viewer of the most popular proposals Godot proposal viewer
Ultimately though Lua is supported through GDextensions as a scripting language here lua-gdextension.
C# is paid for by a large and fat corporation. But, yeah, a petition to FOSS is completely absurd.
And who is that large and fat corporation? ![]()
Huge Lua advocate and afficionado here.
No need for a petition: if you want Lua, it should be because you already know and use it, so chances are you can use the existing GDextension for it, or roll your own integration.
It will not replace GDScript, which was created after Lua and Python were used as Godot’s “native” scripting language, to address what the Godot devs viewed as their shortcomings.
If you want to make games with Godot, using GDscript is the fastest path to doing so.
In this case, it’s not a reproach, but a statement of fact that there are two ways: either OP can do the development himself or pay someone else to do it.
I can’t say more, as my posts and even threads with more than 1K views are deleted from here. And there is still an unanswered post for the moderators. I feel like a dissident in the Soviet Union (there was such a country) here.
Hey, not sure what the Soviet Union has to do with this, but I feel that you just come up with things, present them as facts and then wonder why the post get removed. There isn’t any corporation funding the C# integration in Godot. Microsoft sent a donation years ago and there was nothing else since.
Many of the features currently implemented in Godot have been brought up as “petitions” (proposals) and later on implemented. That’s how the project works. So, for writing a single sentence you missed twice in a row!
I am very familiar with these twists and turns in argumentation. I never received a response to my message to the moderators. I could respond to you at length, but everyone knows how that would end. (With my messages being deleted, and possibly a permanent ban — we are not on equal footing.) The Soviet Union is relevant in that dissent (deviation from the Party’s General Line) was suppressed there.
“A feeling of revolutionary vigilance” — from the same place.
Well, that’s what I said, that the support began with the allocation of money from M$. What did I make up?
I think I’ll leave here before the repression begins. I have enough problems in my own country right now.

Anyone who can read your first comment can tell that you made up a sentence misrepresenting the involvement of Microsoft and saying that proposals are not welcomed in a FOSS project. You are now writing a different sentence.
And for some reason you keep bringing the Soviet Union and Russia back to the mix? lol
