How to preload materials / texture_blit() material field

Question

Okay so, I’m making a drawing application and I have a shader that allows me to erase pixels. The variable I use it through is an export, and it works and registers as a Material type once I set it (as intended). But when I try to manually preload/load it via its uuid as a constant const ERASER = preload(“uid://pur2gfhehp1r”), it for whatever reason turns into a Shader type? I specifically need it as a const so that I can use it in static functions, so I’m confused on how to turn it into the material type that texture_blit requires since Shaders and Materials and ShaderMaterials dont seem to have any functions I could use to convert it.

So yeah, how do I load or convert it into a material? Thank you!!!

Are you sure the uid points to the tres/res/material file and not the gdshader file?

Thank you so much!! Knowing this issue now makes a lot of sense. I was in fact using a gdshader file, which I have now swapped to a shader material tres
