I’m on 4.72 or the latest version.
I’m pretty confused on randomizing with something that isn’t an int or float data type.

X/Y/Z are all float values, you can give each component a random value
var random_vec2 := Vector2(randf_range(-100, 100), randf_range(-100, 100))
Or if you want to have a set of valid positions put them into an array and pick at random.
print([Vector2(12, 12), Vector2(42, 100) ].pick_random())
Can I use randf_range without creating some sort of variable before?
Yes, like other functions it returns a value, you can use this value however you see fit. It is usually helpful to store it in a variable.
