Did any of y’all enter the competition? There are 2907 entries, 1233 of them didn’t finish their entry so only 1667 real ones.
I submitted my drone game I created in November in Godot. It’s not AAA studio, but it’s kinda fun. I even have an infinite enemy drone mode which is kinda fun.
That looks like a great game! Really funky music too, I love it!
I suspect there might be quite a few drone games coming out. I had been thinking about it too, but more top down war game.
Anyway, great job. It looks to me like a significant amount of work. I think if you wanted to add a bit more polish and invest a bit more time in the visuals, this could be a significant piece of work. You could always come back to it in the future for a Version2 if you need a change of course. When you say you created it in November, surely this took longer than a month? Unless you already had a whole bunch of previous pieces from previous games I suppose.
Thanks for your kind words. Yes, it was a crapton of work. Yeah, I started learning godot in April, and have been coding my flagship game, but put that down Oct 21 and cannibalized some infra from the main game and built out the drone mechanic and the 34 levels. So rig stuff, gamestate, my automatic building creator, etc. were instrumental. And yes, I need to get better at visuals.
Oh, we all need to get better at that, don’t worry.
And yes, it is an amazing crapton of work as you put it, but the effort really shows in your game, with quite a bit of complexity and game mechanics and UI. Very impressive job for just one month of work (even with borrowed components from previous game). And if you only started in April then wow, you learn fast! Great job.
