First peek at battle system in ACTION, (i dont know why the GIF exported the graphics like an old Insignia (which i actually have on my desk currently hehh), but it works)
Working out a few more bugs and then gonna work on the game’s dialog.
The game’s story spans throughout the continents of the Realm of Light,
with later on in the game being able to explore the Realm of Darkness.
(Please note that i most certainly will update the gear equipped by the 3rd character, diddnt have much time to make detailed so far)
For some reason I decided to make the game’s forests extremely brutal…
different gear helps a lot.
(I am really going for a Dragon Quest/Medieval Era vibe here)
I really hope you are looking forward to my project,
any (literally any) feedback is highly appreciated.
(the battle system has dragged a lot longer than it should, for some reason i keep remembering/finding issues that need addressing)

Something bothers me with this second screenshot :
maybe you should try to remain consistent in your sprites resolutions.
The fact that the trees have way bigger pixels than the rest of the screen seems strange to me.

yeah, I’ll have to change it—i mainly did that thus far because the SNES (and Sega Genesis) had the capabilities to scale up sprites (ok in short that, much more complicated hahh). Ill fix it before i post the first demo;
thank you very much for your feedback

Love the Phantasy Star (Master System) like aesthetic.

You could do it in another way :
all active elements, like characters, enemies would have detailed sprites.
And inactive elements, like trees or grass would have greater pixel size sprites.
But this could feel strange, especially on grass or water.

I grew up with NES RPGs, so SNES graphics still look stunning to me
I’m looking forward to hearing the music! I commend you for being so true to the platform, it would be much easier (for most people) to compose and orchestrate in a normal DAW. I’m a musician before game developer, so soundtrack always has special significance to me. I’m also curious to hear more about the game design, ie the mechanics - in another thread you mentioned something about audacious, crazy ideas, so you have my interest piqued

Lol, I grew up “Just wanting to play Super Mario World”—SNES are stunning to me also
I hope to finish a few more features before posting another update, theres quite a bit i diddnt show thus far, and some mechanics i want players to figure out by experimenting like the good old days
I am really glad you take interest to my project; it really means a lot to me, I shall continue to do my very best!
