Retro JRPG: Logisnesia, Devblog Thingy

This definitely oozes final fantasy energy

The idea of 3d enemies seem cool. Maybe for like bosses? It’s a trope but in these kinds of games you usually end up killing god in the end, what if it was a 3d model with everything else being 2d. It would be a cool way to show that it’s an “extra dimensional” being.

Do you have a date planned for a demo? Sometimes deadlines can be helpful, to get things done, even if you end up pushing it back

Ahh yess, actually for some bosses and the final boss, i am going to use screenshots of myself as downsampled sprite pieces that i animate, i feel like i have gotten to the point in pixel art now so that i can mimic 3d effects and whatnot, the monsters are going to be fun but a lot of work.

As for a deadline, I dont have a specific one planned as i have quite a bit of ways to go (i suppose i am also a perfectionist hahahah), so by the time the demo comes out, it could be a month, 2 months, or even 4, i certainly intend to have it done before then though.
Glad you took an interest in my project also, have a great day/night :slightly_smiling_face:

Sounds interesting! I’ve not seen that kind of multiplayer in a game like this… but yeah, it’ll probably be a significant item in the development budget

Yess, I have actually drawn inspiration from Dragon Quest IX, however I also want to include PVP.
At one point i was thinking of an online server with leaderboards, etc.
but it seems like too much development time/resources, especially with limited ROM space.

Fr, fr, its nightmare inducing honestly. . . if i do it right then it shouldnt be too big of a deal though… :ghost:

Ok, sounds nice—is it based on Atari games, i see somewhat of a resemblance (I mean that in a good way, as i really enjoy atari, everyone knows it had/has the best graphics, I really like Warlords also.)

Lol seriously

Sorry, I might be late to the party, but I love the Super Nintendo art style! It reminds me of FFIV (or II in the USA)

The sarcasm from answering the “Are you talking to yourself?” reminds me of the cynical dialogue of Earthbound, which I really love.:rofl:

Keep up the good work! I would love to play this someday! I might finally get that “beaten-SNES-game credit one day (Just kidding :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: )

I just read through this thread (as I’m planning on working on some RPG/JRPG games in Godot Engine with some friends of mine), and I just wanted to ask real quick, if this map was drawn from our real-life map of the earth’s continents? I’m not trying to be rude, but I can’t help but notice this map resembles the map of our real-life world…

Yes, it is loosely inspired, honestly the current shape i drew with 8 by 8 pixel tiles on a whim,
so, yes, there are similarities, but it is also subject to change.
Feel free to ask any more questions, even if the question was rude, i wouldnt mind much :slightly_smiling_face:

To further explain my reasoning, I am going for a realistic map shape, and a lot of things planned to exist in the game world are to be based off of many science-backed up things, as i am a nerd, platelet shifting is a thing that should be evident or implied based off of the world map.

good luck to you and your project(s) also.

I have always loved SNES games as a kid, so its really nice to see anyone else who enjoys the Super Nintendo :+1:

Oh i actually havent ever played Elden Ring, i only seen others playing it before,
I grew up with Mario 3, Zelda, etc. and later on, Joe & Mac 2, etc.
I may very well have taken this very much so out of context lol

Notice (for those interested):
(gag post)

Due to technical difficulties, language barriers, and the US market constraints,
the English release of Logisnesia will be censored a bit— this may not be relevent for a while, however, I intend to release a demo soon-ish.
Some dialog may be swapped, removed, or scrambled incorrectly.

ALSO
Added item descriptions --because who doesnt love those?–

These may be useful, nonsensical, sarcastic, or all of the above, as you can tell, i am losing my sanity and have a LOT of writing ahead of me!!!
(Ok to be honest i have questioned and had to literally google the accuracy of that description text)

Habe a gureato daya!
–yes that is butchered very badly, that last line. Try converting it to katagana, and then converting it back to English, and it may or may not make any sense at all.
(This last part is somewhat gag post as well)

Shoot ig its night on half the world. . .
as always though. . . “Its five o’ clock somewhere”…

To be fair, it’s always night on half the world too

Things are looking good so far, apologies if this seems unneccesary

Its been fun so far.

Just checked my project size, it apparently is only 8.97 MB of data.
I would say that is pretty good, I think.

I’d say so… that’s the size of just my 9 character images
