Reverse engineering a Godot made game

Question

Hello
I saw that it’s possible to fully reverse engineer a Godot game, will it be somehow countered in the future? As it does feel like a bummer, and what’s the point of making a big game on Godot, if someone will reverse engineer all the assets make some minor changes and sell the game as their own with basically minimum effort. There is even a tool to extract the assets and if it’s written in GDScript you can extract some of the logic

decompiling is going to be common with common game engines, Unity and Unreal are both very easy to un-pack and have been for a long time. I do not see many repackaged games sold in America, what I do see with a lower barrier to entry is asset flip games that make use of off-the-shelf systems and assets to be bought from Unity and Unreal’s market places.

I think this is more of a copyright issue than an encryption issue.

I was asking, because I saw a game was “repacked” and sold under another title. The original was: “Diapers, please” it was on IOS. So thought if Godot has any mechanism on preventing ease of reverse engineering. As I do understand, that if someone is determined, he will get all the assets from the game, this is more aimed at so called “script kiddies”

These things can happen and if it does, it’s the original author’s job to contact the store owner, Apple in this case, and explain the problem.

I’ll say that it’s sad that it happens, whatever the circumstances. Protect yourselves the best way possible and keep your eyes open in case someone with limited morale wants to steal one’s creative property.
