I’m sorry but I’m going to be direct and ask the following question: if you don’t care what other people think of your game, aren’t interested in feedback, and won’t consider the ways your game design excludes people

Why are you posting here? This is a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas, if you’re just interested in promotion there are better places to do so

Where did I write that I am not interested in people’s feedback??

The way you’ve responded to feedback, and statements like this:

You’re drawing the wrong conclusions. The game is mine, and I’m the one making it. If someone wants to express their opinion about the game, that’s absolutely fine.

All you’re saying though says “you’re entitled to your opinion but it’s my game”, so I’m still wondering: what is your goal in sharing your game here if you’re going to respond negatively and dismissively to feedback people have, people who are game developers with experience who are interested in supporting your projects?

I’ve not been involved in the conversation but just by reading it I feel discouraged from giving any feedback or testing your game

You’re free to not care about what people think about your game, but I’m just saying this is probably not the place to share it if you are going to respond this way when people give you helpful feedback

Best of luck with your project though, I hope the issues highlighted here won’t hurt it, and that excluding people won’t hurt its reach too much!

It may seem negative and dismissive to you, but that also depends a lot on how the translator translates what I write. After reading this conversation, you feel discouraged from playing the game? Isn’t that a bit of an overreaction? If you don’t want to play it, you don’t have to — I’m not forcing you.

I haven’t criticized anyone or tried to be rude. If someone interpreted my words that way, that wasn’t my intention. I don’t think people should start looking at me negatively or implying they won’t play the game just because I don’t make it exactly the way they want.

Relax a little — why is everyone so sensitive about this? It feels like people keep finding something to take issue with. We’re here to play games and talk about games. You gave feedback about what you would change — okay, no problem. But if I decide that change doesn’t fit what I want for my game, am I supposed to force myself to change it anyway?

I understand that my replies may have come across as negative or dismissive, but that may also be partly because I’m using a translator and sometimes the tone doesn’t come through the way I intend.

I’m not trying to criticize anyone or be rude. I appreciate people taking the time to give feedback about the game, and I have no problem with people saying what they would personally change. At the same time, I hope it’s also understandable that I won’t necessarily agree with every suggestion or decide to implement it.

If someone feels discouraged from playing because of this conversation, that’s of course their choice, but that was never my intention. I’m not trying to exclude anyone or tell people their opinions don’t matter.

We’re all here because we enjoy games and talking about them. Feedback is welcome, but in the end I still have to make the decisions that I feel are right for the game I’m creating. I hope we can disagree about certain things without it becoming personal.

Watch out not to confuse a well informed and elaborated constructive feedback with a mere opinion.

Yeah, all I wrote before was confirmed by running the game. There are in fact even more visual problems than what I could have anticipated from screenshots. There’s also gameplay problems. I won’t go into any of it just to get a dismissive one liner back. You’re clearly not interested in discussing things.

Please be aware that while your intent matters it also matters how what you say is received, and it’s important to listen to how people take what you say even if you didn’t mean it and adjust where it is reasonable

Maybe this is a language barrier but people don’t “choose” to feel discouraged, and please don’t respond to people saying what impact you say has are “being sensitive”

I also explained my reasoning. I really like my game and I’m proud of it. I honestly don’t have the time or desire to spend another six months or a year changing it just to maybe sell a few more copies and make a little more money.

Was I rude from the beginning of this conversation? I don’t think so. If, in your opinion, your messages were friendly, then they could have sounded more like: “Cool game, but it’s not really my thing,” “Cool game, I’ll check it out,” or “It would be nice if you changed this or that.” Instead, I feel like you keep pushing these changes even though I already explained that I’m not going to make them because I really like the game the way it is.

Does my opinion not matter too? Are my arguments somehow less important than yours? I don’t think I’m the only person responsible for how this conversation turned out.

When I said “that’s of course their choice,” I simply meant that if you want to buy the game, you can, and if you don’t, you don’t have to. I’m not forcing anyone to do anything. I genuinely don’t understand what is rude about saying that.

Okay, I understand. So according to some players, the game may be bad or even feel unplayable, but there will also be players who enjoy it.

I don’t know how to make games the way you do, and I understand that you make better games. I know the feedback was meant to help me, but I like my game and I didn’t make it with the goal of making it perfect — even if it still has a long way to go before it could be considered perfect. I don’t think any game is truly perfect.

I would put it this way: you can get used to this game, just like you can get used to other games. And then, especially since the demo is free, you might find that you can spend some time with it and simply enjoy playing it.

I’m sorry if anyone took my words the wrong way or if anything I said offended them in any way.
