Hello everyone
I finally finished my first game project that i started almost 1 year ago.
Feel free to check it out.
Note: This project is completed and there is no plan to expand it.
ABOUT THE GAME:
SURVIVE
Worlds are waiting for you to be saved from wild monsters!
Pass waves. Protect the power tank from being empty.
Get score & use machines with your score.
NOTES
This game has two gamemodes! [ Protect the worlds & Protect the power ]
You can play the game on your browser! [ Also has downloadable version ]
The game looks decent from a trailer, but could use more polish, like squash and stretch animation and player tilt based on velocity. The camera is also very stiff. VFX could help in making attacks more clear, as the bullets are barely visible. I REALLY like what youāve done with the health bar, though!
Thank you so much for your feedback!
You are super right. This game might lack some VFX for example walking or attacking.
I started this project almost 1 year ago and that time i was super beginner and also it was my first project!
So i decided to make a simple game to actually learn game development and release it after 1-3 months. But i released it after almost 1 year! [ not full time work ] and learned a lot too.
During this project, i was thinking that i can add camera shake or damage VFX. But i told myself to keep this project simple to actually finish the game.
This is just start of my game dev journey and iām gonna make better and better games and improve myself at game development.
Your feedback makes me to improve myself and also give me motivation.
If you only watched the trailer, i recommend you to play the game. [ Web version for quick play ]
Because it might be different from the actual game and you can actually feel it.
Hope you have a great day!
Well, I unfortunately didnāt feel it.
However, considering the project is your very first, itās definitely pretty decent.
Here are a few issues of mine:
The āleg attackā has a long windup during which you are stuck, and it only affects one enemy, not good for a survivors like.
Shooting should be auto aim and auto fire, as is customary for a survivors like.
I canāt tell which props are foreground and which are decoration. I got stuck on what I thought was decoration and got killed in about 2 seconds by the spinning ball guy.
Bullets could be a lot bigger and look cooler with a simple sprite change.
Take a look here:
Thanks for your another feedback.
Iām really sorry. Because i didnāt make a game that feels fun for you.
Here some of my plans when i was working on this game:
Making a game that feels realistic. For example: slow walking, stuck when leg attack [ Because you canāt walk when only your one leg is on the ground ] and also i slowed down the leg attack to make the game more realistic.
This game doesnāt have guns or weapons. The object comes from the characterās body. So that object is not actually a bullet that comes from a gun. The characterās body makes this object inside of itself. So you are saying that it could be better, if aiming and firing be automatic. But i think it will a lot easier for this game that tries to be realistic [ Aiming in this game is actually easy. Because the movement of character is simple and also the object(bullet) comes from the characterās body, so it rotates with the player, not with gun. ]. The summary is that i was planning to make a realistic survivor-like, not a fast-paced survivor-like like Brotato.
The groundās plants has 3 types of height:
Tall: Have collision
Med: Also have collision
Short: Donāt have collision
So maybe because the plants are colorful, the players take wrong. The ground also has rocks and the little ones doesnāt have collision and also their color are black-gray.
Youāre right. The shooting object(bullet) is small and it could be brighter. But The bullet is actually animated and as i said this is not a bullet from a gun. Itās from the characterās body and it canāt be too large. [ But it can be a little bit larger ]. The bullet animation might not visible. But if you get Speed2x item [ From random item machine or PowerUp machine ], you can see its animation. [ Follow the shooting object ]
Games that try to be realistic might not be fun for some players and it can be boring for them. Some players like fast-paced and speedy gameplay [ For example: Brotato that waves can be passed quickly ] and some players not. So maybe balance between them is better for all players to enjoy.
Have a great time
When you buy an item, you can see them at top-right of your screen.
My game has a guide menu. I cleared every necessery things in this menu. You can click āGuideā Button in the main menu or pause the game and click on āGuideā and youāll see two buttons. [ Items & Machines ]
Here is a screenshot: [ Guide ā Items ]
Why do you ask for feedback if you shut down everything I suggest? It feels like you just want easy promotion for this game rather than actual critique that would require working on the project any more. Sorry if this is a bit harsh, but thatās just the vibe iām getting here..
I respect your suggestions. i said my plans when i started this project. I didnāt shut down your tips.
iāll definitely use your suggestions in my future projects. This project is completed and i donāt have any plans to expand it or change something. Because it was my first game and itās based on my previous knowledge and i coded this game in a bad way. So itās hard to expand it and also limited. I want to make better games with my current knowledge and your feedback is gonna help and improve me as a game developer that tries to make better games. So donāt think your feedback is useless. Itās super useful. Iām here not only for promoting my game but for improving myself with your feedbacks.
If i made you angry, iām really sorry and i apologize.
I understand. If this is your first project and the code base isnāt able to be expanded, thereās nothing to be done. Iām sorry that I was too harsh in your first project. I hope itās well received.
