A Preview of a Pair of Productivity Plugins

Hello,

I’d like to showcase a pair of productivity-related plugins I’ve been working on. I’d love to gauge community interest in them and receive as much feedback as possible before I release them.

Task Tracker / TODO List

The first plugin is a TODO list that helps you keep track of everything that needs to be done.

Features

Features include:

  • Intuitive interface
    • Tasks can be moved simply by dragging and dropping them
    • Automatically adapts to your editor settings and uses built-in editor icons for seamless editor integration
    • Everything is smoothly animated
  • Tasks can be marked with a color to differentiate bugs, priorities, etc.
  • Tasks can have sub-tasks, sub-tasks can have sub-sub-tasks, etc.
  • You can add text tags to tasks to help categorize TODOs
  • You can “send” tasks to any project, even if you aren’t working on it currently

GDScript Terminal

The second is a very useful tool that allows you to run GDScript in the editor at the click of a button.

Features

Features include:

  • Intuitive interface
    • Automatically adapts to your editor settings and uses built-in editor icons for seamless editor integration
    • Everything is smoothly animated
  • GDScript syntax highlighting
  • Expand/collapse plugin dock or move it to the bottom panel for a larger view
  • Code can be saved for quick future use
  • You can set “default” code that will be prepended before any code you run

One thing I’m debating is whether or not to charge for these.

  • Would you find these useful enough to pay for?
  • What would be a fair price for each plugin?
  • Would you ever consider buying any plugin, or would you search for a free alternative or create your own solution?

I also haven’t settled on what to name them. I’ve considered adding a Godot-related prefix to them (e.g “GoTask” and “GDTerminal”), but I’d prefer to name them something more unique to help them stand out.

Thanks for reading. I’d love to hear whether or not you’d find these useful, what features you’d like to see, and any other feedback you may have.

Congrats! Great job with these! It means a lot. Your all both addons are much useful. Also, I like your writing style and format!

As of your questions, here are my personal thoughts about the community (not about me personally):

There are already some even more advanced addons available for free in the asset library. Generally, people don’t like to spend money on these kinds of tools. Honestly, I haven’t heard much about paid plugins around here.

If you’re planning to sell your plugins, I’d say $2–5 would be a fair price for each.

Personally, I recommend releasing them for free. You can always add a support/sponsor option, so if people find them truly helpful, they can support you! You could even set a goal like $100 or so.

You’ve really done a great job, these are definitely worth paying for. But based on what I’ve seen, if you make them paid, you probably won’t get many sales.

Thank you for your comment!

In that case, I’ll likely publish them on the AssetLib, but I’ll also make them available on Itch so that users can have the option to donate. I do see how it would be hard to sell something to a community built around free, open-source software.
