Alien Defender (Prototype web game)

Hey guys,

i needed a break from my current project, so i made a 2 week side project. I know, that many things need to be polished.I will give the game a few expansions, more enemies and upgrades when i have more time.

Maybe you can give it a try :slight_smile:

Cool game , all aspects feels great from music , simple gameplay, artworks suits to theme .

Maybe turn in landscape only be an improvement as it looks a bit strange stretch on portrait mode .

Hey guys,

another 2 weeks have passed and I worked on new abilities, some graphical improvements and a little bit balancing.

I’m changing the game’s name from Alien Defender to Alien Dieout. The original name is a bit too common on itch.io, and I wanted to give the game a more unique identity.

You can see the new abilities in the video below :slight_smile:

The game looks awesome but a error pops up in web build saying .pck is missing.
and also is it me or it’s a real big game

LoL for some reason it doesn’t fit properly on screen.

Then my bad,my GPU doesn’t support vulkan.

I don’t think mine does either, but the game runs (Windows).
I’m on a laptop right now, but I’ll test later on my actual PC (Linux).

Im on Windows 10 and so far there’s no problems. I just suck at the game :face_in_clouds:

Its a little bit too challenging in the current state. I will polish it the next days and maybe you can give it another try :wink::sign_of_the_horns:t2:

very cool, and the graphics are amazing. If you want to keep the game in html, then yous should keep the game screen at a normal resolution and enabled the button “full screen”, but the viewport was too big for my laptop, and I couldn’t zoom out. I suffered some lag with the bullets and the eggs, or maybe it was an impression. Also, the animation of reload doesn’t fit when you can really open fire again. Otherwise, I had fun and though it could be cool to have features like jumping or send projectiles back.
I’ll try your next release.

Yeah, guess I need to fix the reload timeout :laughing:. Its a little bit too hard.. What would be a good option for the screen resolution?
I would like to keep the game as a browser, that actually should not take the whole screen.

if your players are using laptop, then target a 16:9 resolution and try some of them until find the right one ^^ For your animation issue, maybe you can emit a signal when the animation is over, enabling the ability to open fire.

Hey guys,

its been another 2 weeks and I made some changes..

  • many UI upgrades. You can see the button for the ability in the bottom screen.
  • abilities are greyed out when they are in timeout state.
  • added some new enemies and bosses.
  • bosses have now a boss bar in the middle of the screen with a fancy unique name :laughing:
  • you can jump now. Too give this ability a use.. I added some flying enemies
  • there will be some passive abilities, that support the player automatically
  • the shoot timeout has been removed.. you can go in full trigger finger mode. I had do upgrade the enemy hp for this, though the game would be too easy.


I will upload a new version in 1-2 days.. then I will fix the resolution issue.

After this update , I will add some new abilities, new bosses, a small story and the final boss

Thanks to the clean controls + readable gameplay at a small size, this game would go crazy on mobile for sure. Perhaps consider an Android release?
