Looking for a Godot Coder for PGMA 2026

Hey! I’m putting together a small team for the Pixel Game Maker Awards (PGMA) 2026 season, and I’m mainly looking for a coder who works in Godot. I’m a pixel artist, animator, and game designer, and I was in the last season (there were around 50 participants), so I’ve already been through the whole elimination format and kind of know what to expect this time.

I’ll be handling all the art and design again, but I really want someone who can focus on the coding side so we can actually polish our games instead of scrambling every round.

Team setup

It’s just going to be three of us:

  • Me – art, animation, game design

  • You – coding in Godot

  • One more teammate – music + SFX

Small team, easier communication, less chaos.

How we’ll communicate

We can talk through Scratch, itch.io, or even right here on the Godot Forums. PGMA doesn’t care which platform teams use, so whatever’s easiest for you works for me.

Quick rundown of PGMA

If you haven’t heard of it: PGMA is a long, multi‑round pixel‑art game jam for ages 13–21. It runs for about 5 months, with breaks between rounds. After each round, the community and judges vote, and about half the teams get eliminated. It’s pretty fun, but also a good challenge.

If you want the full details, the official site explains everything way better:

Prizes (non‑money)

There’s no cash prize, but you do get:

  • 1st place: Guest judge for up to 2 seasons

  • 2nd place: Guest judge for 1 season

  • 3rd place: Guaranteed entry next season

It’s more about recognition and getting involved in future seasons.

What I’m looking for

Basically someone who:

  • Knows Godot well enough to handle gameplay logic and basic systems

  • Communicates clearly

  • Fits the 13–21 age range

  • Actually wants to make something cool and not just “submit something to survive the round”

I’ll take care of the art direction, animations, and design — I just need someone who can bring the mechanics to life.

Also, you should be ready to put in a pretty solid amount of time each round. PGMA rounds aren’t crazy, but they’re definitely not “do it in one afternoon” either, so I’m looking for someone who’s actually willing to commit and push for quality.

PGMA is currently finishing up Season 8, and we’ll be competing in Season 9. The new season should start in the next few months, so I’m trying to get the team together ahead of time instead of scrambling last‑minute.
