Please Help needed ! Recreate Kirby Camera collisions

Godot Version

Godot 4.5.1 stable

Question

Hi guys ! I’ve made researches across the internet to find out how 3D camera limits could be implemented.

I stumbled upon a GDC talk from 2023, by some of the developpers of Kirby and the Forgotten Land, in which they explain how they have implemented this in their game.

The link to the talk is here (look at the video from 21:15 to 23:55):

The Many Dimensions of Kirby

This is a picture that shows a bit how it works :

Do you have some clues on how to implement a radial raycast based collision detection system in an efficient way in Godot ?

I suggest checking whether Phantom Camera has the ability to do what you’re looking for.

I’m currently using PhantomCamera, but there isn’t such functionalities

TBH, you’re going to get a better response if you put time and effort into your question. Asking us to watch a video is putting more work on us to help you. We are all just volunteering our time. If you can’t put enough effort into even describing what you want, how do you expect us to do the work of trying to understand what you want?

Excuse me for the inconvenience :worried:. I did not explain my problem in detail and I apologize for that :folded_hands: . All what I wanted to have is some hints about a system that is quite intimidating for me, as I’m currently doing a whole lot of things for my game. Again I’m sorry to bother you .

As for the video I did not want you to look at all the video, but just the excerpt from 21 min to 24 min approx.

And on my side, i’ll try to implement this on my own.

Thank you for your remarks.

De rien.

Perhaps then it would be better to focus on one thing at a time. Both GitHub and GitLab offer free ticketing systems you can use to create tickets for each thing you are working on, and then digest them in smaller amounts. This might help with your frustration.

Hopefully someone will do that for you.

Bonne chance!
